I recently came upon a small box of little items that had gotten pushed way in the back of my closet. It is amazing what a little bit of searching brings forth from the darkness. There were lots of little papers from various times in my life that I had saved. --Pictures of family and friends and events from over the years--awards I had received--programs I had been involved with--things I had written, made, enjoyed. But way down at the bottom of the box, there was a tiny little box the size that a nice bracelet would fit in. It was a box from an old department store where I grew up called Epsteins. The box was probably 30 years old atleast. I was sort of excited by seeing that box and quickly grabbed it to see what was in there. Opening the box, I soon realized that it was my little trinket box from when I was a kid. Housed in this box--two stubs to the movie theatre (not sure what movie)a necklace made from beads that was in the shape of a clown, a pink banded Barbie watch, a 1967 penny, two small marbles and a slightly bigger marble and my TOPO GEEJO (the little mouse on the Ed Sullivan Show). It was my trinket box!! There's not much in the box that is worth much to anyone else but me--but oh what treasures!
It made me think of what inspires me today. Sometimes it is the simpliest things in life that are the greatest source of inspiration. Sometimes it is the little things that we take for granted in our lives or that just don't seem to have meaning for anyone else but ourselves, that have the most impact. Sometimes it is finding the treasure of years past that help us remember fondly a long past relative or friend, a fun time, something that made us laugh or brought a tear to our eye, but always a treasure of the heart that gives us inspiration.
So look for the areas in your life where things may have been pushed to the back to see the stashes of wonderful memories that might just be the thing that brings you the inspiration you need today to make something wonderful. Have fun with your treasures.

Inspirations
2010 has come in with all it's glory. A New Year and a clean slate upon which to write 365 days worth of history. How exciting, how inspiring.
Many of you know, for the past number of years I have been choosing a word at the beginning of my year to focus my attention on for the entire year. It helps me get beyond the previous year, focus on new possibilities, gives me ideas for projects and my life as a whole. Many, many creations, expressions, projects, and ideas have come out of my doing this. I have written two songs; created a company; experienced places, and foods, cultures and ideas I never imagined; captured ideas and used them to create some awesome projects; and met people like yourselves who have graced my life with enormous blessings.
In previous years my words have been "Story", "Believe", "Dream", and "Excellence". This year I wanted to do something a little different. This year is the start of a new decade--starting with a "blue moon" and a lunar eclipse. Many, many unique things about this year to come. So thinking what all that meant to me--the word inspiration or inspire came to me.
So it is that this year the word is "Inspiration". What inspires me, who inspires me, who I might inspire, how it might happen and more. You will see things that inspire my work, people who inspire my life, people I hope to inspire, places that have shed some light on what I have been inspired by and most importantly about a belief in the One who is the source of all of this and who gave all of this to me--God. All that I have and all that I am is because of God. It is through God's handiwork that I am able to have and be and do and have my being. It is because of God that I am able to be inspired by all of these things. They are all put there for us to look around and see and be inspired by and we are there to inspire others.
I hope you enjoy these daily "Spots" and that they "Inspire" you--whether it is through an idea, a picture, a question raised, a proposal challenged, or something that is stirring deep down within that needs to be let out. Think on it---"Inspiration". Share what that means to you. ~~B
